Tile Calculator: How Many m² and How Many Tiles?

Work out how many tiles, square meters and boxes of ceramic tile you need for an area, including a waste allowance for cuts and breakage.

How is it calculated?

Net area = width × length − area to subtract. A waste allowance for the laying pattern is added, and the result is divided by the area of one tile (width × length, in cm) to get the number of tiles. If you enter the m² per box, the number of boxes is calculated too.

Why a waste allowance?

Extra tiles cover pieces cut at edges and corners, breakage and future repairs. Buying tiles from the same batch number avoids color differences.

Frequently asked questions

Are grout and adhesive included?

No. The amount of adhesive and grout depends on the product and joint width; check the coverage on the bag or ask your pro.

How do I measure bathroom walls?

Measure each wall separately as width × height and add them up, then enter the door and window area as the area to subtract.
