AC BTU Calculator: What Size Air Conditioner Do I Need?
Estimate how many BTU an air conditioner needs for your room in Turkey based on room size, ceiling height, region and how much sun the room gets.
How is it calculated?
The room volume (area × ceiling height) is multiplied by about 145 BTU per m³ and adjusted for region and sun exposure. About 600 BTU is added for each person beyond two, and 15% for a top floor. The result is rounded up to the nearest size sold (9,000, 12,000, 18,000, 24,000 BTU…).
Why approximate?
Insulation, window size, heat from appliances and how you use the room change the real need. For a final choice, having an AC service inspect the room is recommended.
Frequently asked questions
Is a bigger BTU unit better?
An oversized unit cools the room too quickly and switches on and off often; it removes less humidity and is less comfortable. An undersized unit runs at full power all the time.
Is the same BTU enough for heating?
In colder regions heating needs can be higher; inverter and heating performance vary by model, so ask the seller or a repair service.
